Made to Order

Track customer orders that require custom manufacturing before fulfillment.

Made to Order (MTO) shows all items from customer orders that need to be manufactured before they can be fulfilled. It provides a clear view of what needs to be produced and for which orders.

Orders

Overview

The MTO page automatically pulls items from open orders where the product is flagged as requiring manufacturing. Items are grouped by their made-to-order type, making it easy to batch similar work.

What you'll see

The page displays an accordion-style list grouped by MTO type. Each group shows:

  • Order number — Click to navigate to the full order details
  • Customer name — Who the order is for
  • SKU code — The product to manufacture
  • Product title — Product description
  • Quantity required — How many units to produce

Automatic filtering

Only items from orders in Awaiting Fulfillment, Partially Fulfilled, or Backordered status appear here. Completed and cancelled orders are excluded automatically.

Workflow

Review MTO items

Check the MTO list to see what needs to be manufactured. Items are grouped by type so you can batch similar work together.

Manufacture the items

Produce the required items. You can track this through Production Jobs if you're using the production management features.

Update inventory

Once manufactured, items should be received into inventory so they become available for order fulfillment.

Fulfill the order

With stock now available, the order can proceed through the normal pick, pack, and dispatch workflow.

When all items are produced

When no MTO items remain, the page shows an "All Caught Up!" message — meaning all current orders with MTO items have been manufactured and are ready for fulfillment.
