Sourcing

Manage sourcing activities, supplier quotes, and procurement decisions for your products.

The Sourcing section helps you manage the procurement side of product development — finding suppliers, comparing quotes, and making buying decisions.

Sourcing

Overview

Sourcing connects the gap between product development and purchasing. When you need to find or evaluate suppliers for a product, sourcing activities let you:

  • Track supplier enquiries and responses
  • Compare quotes from multiple suppliers
  • Record pricing, lead times, and minimum order quantities
  • Make informed procurement decisions

Sourcing workflow

Create a sourcing request

Start a new sourcing activity from Product → Sourcing. Link it to a development project or product if applicable.

Add supplier candidates

Add one or more suppliers you'd like to get quotes from. If the suppliers aren't in your system yet, you can create them from the Suppliers section.

Record quotes

As supplier quotes come in, record the pricing, quantities, lead times, and any other terms. This lets you compare options side by side.

Select a supplier

Once you've reviewed the options, mark your preferred supplier. This information can flow through to purchase orders when you're ready to buy.

Key features

  • Quote comparison — View quotes from multiple suppliers for the same product
  • Cost tracking — Record unit costs, tooling costs, and shipping estimates
  • Lead time visibility — Compare delivery timelines across suppliers
  • Linked to development — Connect sourcing activities to development projects for a complete picture

From sourcing to purchasing

Once you've selected a supplier and agreed on terms, you can create a purchase order directly from the sourcing record, carrying over the pricing and supplier details.
