Product Development
Manage your product development pipeline from concept to production-ready.
The Development section is your product pipeline — where new ideas are tracked from initial concept through to being production-ready and added to your catalogue.
Overview
Development provides a structured workflow for managing new product ideas before they become live catalogue items. This helps teams collaborate on product concepts, track progress, and ensure everything is in order before a product goes into production or becomes available for sale.
DevelopmentDevelopment pipeline
Each development project moves through stages that represent its progress:
- Concept — Initial idea or product brief
- Design — Specifications, materials, and design work in progress
- Sampling — Physical samples being created or reviewed
- Approved — Development complete, ready for production or catalogue
Customise your workflow
The specific stages available may vary depending on your organisation's configuration. Administrators can customise development stages to match your team's process.
Working with development projects
Creating a new project
To start tracking a new product development:
Navigate to Development
Go to Product → Development in the sidebar.
Click 'New Development'
Use the create button to open the development form.
Fill in the details
Enter the product name, description, target specifications, and any other relevant details. You can assign the project to team members and set target dates.
Save and track
Save the project. It will appear in your development pipeline, where you can track its progress through the stages.
Managing projects
From the development list view, you can:
- Filter by stage — Focus on projects at a specific point in the pipeline
- Search — Find projects by name or description
- Update status — Move projects between stages as they progress
- Add notes and attachments — Keep all relevant information together
- Link to suppliers — Associate sourcing details with the development project
Moving to the catalogue
Once a development project is approved, it can be converted into a live product in your catalogue. This creates a new product record with the details from the development project, saving you from re-entering information.
Moving a development project to the catalogue doesn't delete the development record — it remains as a historical reference of the product's journey.
