Credit Control
Monitor customer credit limits, utilisation, and overdue balances.
Credit Control gives you a consolidated view of every customer's credit position — how much credit they have been given, how much they are using, and whether they have any overdue balances.
AccountingOverview
The page is designed for credit controllers and finance teams to quickly identify customers who need attention — either because they are approaching their credit limit or because they have overdue invoices.
Summary cards
Four cards at the top of the page show key figures:
| Card | Description |
|---|---|
| Total AR Outstanding | The total amount owed by all customers |
| Overdue | The total amount that is past its due date. Displayed in red if any amount is overdue. |
| Credit Customers | The number of customers who have been given credit terms |
| Over Limit | The number of customers currently using more than their approved credit limit |
Customer credit list
Below the summary, each customer with credit terms is shown as an expandable row. The key information displayed for each customer includes:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Customer name | The customer's name, with their company name shown beneath if available |
| Terms | The agreed payment terms (e.g. 30 days, 60 days, End of Month + 30). Shown as a badge. |
| Credit used / Credit limit | A visual bar showing how much of the customer's credit limit is currently in use. The percentage is colour-coded: green (below 70%), yellow (70–90%), and red (above 90%). |
| Outstanding | The total amount the customer currently owes |
| Overdue | The amount that is past its due date, with a count of overdue invoices. Shown in red if any amount is overdue. |
| Over Limit | A badge appears if the customer has exceeded their credit limit |
Searching and sorting
- Search — Filter customers by name
- Terms filter — Show only customers with specific payment terms (7 days, 14 days, 30 days, EOM + 30, 60 days, 90 days, or Custom)
- Sort by — Change the order of the list:
- Most Overdue — Customers with the highest overdue amounts first
- Most Outstanding — Customers with the largest total balances first
- Highest Utilisation — Customers closest to or over their credit limit first
- Name A–Z — Alphabetical order
Understanding credit utilisation
Credit utilisation is the percentage of a customer's credit limit that is currently in use. It is calculated as:
Credit Used ÷ Credit Limit × 100
The colour coding helps you spot risk at a glance:
- Green (0–70%) — Healthy — plenty of headroom
- Yellow (70–90%) — Approaching limit — may need attention soon
- Red (90%+) — At or near limit — consider pausing further credit sales
What to do with overdue customers
When you spot a customer with overdue invoices:
- Review their invoices — Go to Accounting → Accounts Receivable and search for the customer to see their individual invoices
- Contact the customer — Follow up with a payment reminder
- Run dunning — Use the automated dunning function in Accounts Receivable to send structured reminders
- Adjust credit limit — If a customer repeatedly pays late, consider reducing their credit limit
Regular review
Review the Credit Control page weekly (or daily for high-volume businesses) to catch overdue balances early. The sooner you follow up, the more likely you are to receive prompt payment.
