Navigating Helium

Learn how the Helium dashboard is organised and how to find your way around.

Helium's interface is designed to keep everything accessible while managing a large number of features. This guide explains how the dashboard is structured so you can find what you need quickly.

Dashboard layout

The Helium dashboard consists of three main areas:

  1. Left sidebar — Primary navigation organised by business section
  2. Main content area — Where you interact with features, lists, and forms
  3. Top bar — Organisation/client selector and global actions

The sidebar groups features into six colour-coded sections, each representing a different part of your business:

SectionColourWhat you'll find
ProductCyanR&D, catalogue, suppliers, content, packaging, images
OperationsVioletProduction, purchasing, inventory, warehouse, stock
CommerceGoldCustomers, pricing, channels, orders, documents
FulfillmentGreenConsignments, picking, packing, shipping, customer service
InsightsBlueAnalytics, import/export, performance
AdminGreyUsers, roles, permissions, settings, billing

Each section contains collapsible groups of related features. Click a group header to expand or collapse it.

Visual cues

The sidebar highlights your current section with its accent colour, so you always know where you are. The active page is also highlighted within its group.

Core features

At the top of the sidebar, above the business sections, you'll find two always-visible features:

  • Tasks — Your personal task list with outstanding items, due dates, and quick actions
  • Messages — Internal messaging for team communication

Both show badge counts when you have unread items.

Collapsible groups

Within each section, features are organised into logical groups:

  • R&D — Development, Sourcing

Permission-based visibility

You only see what you need

The sidebar only shows features you have permission to access. If a section or page is missing from your sidebar, it means your current role doesn't include that permission. Contact your administrator to adjust your access if needed.

Each feature in Helium is controlled by a permission module. Your administrator assigns roles to your account, and each role grants access to specific modules. This keeps the interface clean and focused on your responsibilities.

Press Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K on Mac) anywhere in Helium to open the global search. This is often the fastest way to navigate, especially when you know what you're looking for.

The search covers:

  • Products and SKUs
  • Customers and orders
  • Suppliers
  • Consignments
  • And more

Power user tip

Get familiar with Ctrl+K early — experienced users rely on search more than sidebar navigation for day-to-day tasks.

Switching clients

If your organisation manages multiple client accounts, you can switch between them using the client selector in the sidebar. Your available data, settings, and some features will change based on the selected client.
